  • Oakland Pride Partners with Foodie Ventures

    A Growing Popularity

Foodie Village events have been well received and our events are gaining lots of momentum. We want to continue to grow our events and bring our customers the best from local small businesses and vendors. A new Mobile Food Vendor Market hosted by Oakland Pride is a great way to kick off the the fall season while celebrating our LGBTQ+ community.

    The Current Challenge

Since the start of the pandemic and the subsequent stay-at-home order many mobile food vendors have been affected by diminished foot traffic and canceled events. Foodie Ventures has worked with farmers' markets to create events that both bring safe successful solutions to vendors and consumers alike.

In June, Oakland Pride announced that their annual 50, 000+ person festival celebrating the diversity and inclusiveness of the East Bay's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer communities would be virtual and no in-person mass activities would be held in September.

Our local, small businesses represented by mobile vendors needed customers to survive and our LGBTQ+ community continued to need safe and welcoming spaces.

    Things Are Changing

Our Creatives and other Venue Partners are beginning to understand how they can play a vital role in the communities of our cities and counties. They realize it is a responsibility to enhance their local communities by working with Foodie Ventures to create these outdoor, COVID SAFE VENUES, aka FOODIE VILLAGE.

To coincide with their Virtual Celebration, Oakland Pride launched the "Pride Curbside" outdoor experience, a social distanced curbside cocktail venue where the LGBTQ+ community can gather as we all "celebrate-in-place."

    An Optimistic Outlook

We look forward to working with Oakland Pride to bring a new concept and COVID safe solutions to Oakland's Uptown area while expanding the community centered experience that exists within Oakland Pride.

    The Location

Oakland Pride Headquarters, in the heart of Oakland's Uptown District adjacent to Paramount Theater and Lake Merritt will host the outdoor space. Foodie Village is teaming up with Oakland Pride to offer food, meals, beverage and live entertainment at least throughout the week and weekends starting August 31, 2020.
